Film/TV Licensing
There is a major source of income that many songwriters overlook: the use of music in television or film. Television and film producers need material for their projects. Not only is there money involved in licensing music for television and film, the use of a song in either of these mediums can mean widespread exposure. However, a producer will require the songwriter to sign a contract so that the producer can "license the rights". This allows the producer to utilize the material in whatever way the producer wishes.

Zak Stevens, Savatage & Machines of Grace lead singer on "LIVE - From The Source" Thursday 02/18 @ 9pm EST
For a period of eight years from 1992 until August 2000, Zachary Stevens was the infallible lead singer of power metal band legend - SAVATAGE. His huge vocal range, controlled crafting and thrilling energy guaranteed splendid gigs night after night, every single show worthy of a live album. The young man from South Carolina accomplished something absolutely unique in five decades of rock history. Coming into play as a real rookie, he followed the charismatic and vocally incomparable Jon Oliva as Savatage' lead singer without getting even a slight complaint from the for-good reason spoiled fan base. After recording four outstanding albums with Savatage, Zak left the band rather silently. During winter time 2002/2003 Zak started his comeback. Songwriting genius Jon Oliva and guitarist Chris Caffery co-wrote with Zak the songs for the brilliant Circle II Circle debut "Watching in Silence". Now working on his fifth CIIC release in 2008, Zak and his band mates have come “full-circle”! The new album will be out in spring 2008 on AFM records. Zak is currently working on the new Circle II Circle album due out in Spring 2010, and his new band Machines of Grace' album is now available!

Getting Endorsements!
An important sales tool for musical product manufacturers is to have musicians endorsing their products. Hence, an endorsement deal is something serious players should investigate.
Product endorsements generally involve endorsing musical gear such as guitars, strings, drum sticks, pedals, etc. Product endorsements can include any/all of the following: (1) mentioning the product in liner notes on albums, (2) mentioning product in interviews, (3) endorsing the product at trade shows, (4) giving clinics, and (5) appearing in ads.
FOUNDING BASSIST DAVID ELLEFSON TO RETURN TO MEGADETH LINE-UP
Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth's upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.
"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness," Mustaine says. "David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"
David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."
Ellefson will join Mustaine and Megadeth band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group's current CD Endgame, which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band's career.
"We'd like to thank James LoMenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.
This means that David will be postponing some teaching dates on RockSource360. For those of you anxiously awaiting lessons with David, no worries, he will be teaching as the tour allows.
